Ice Climbing & Snowshoeing - Bozeman (Grades 4-12 & Adults)
For the first time ever, GSMW is offering girls (and a few willing adults) a chance to ICE CLIMB!
Join us as we partner with Montana Alpine Guides, a Bozeman-based certified guiding organization, to explore the ice of Ousel Falls and the scenery of Specimen Creek.
We will all meet at the MAG office promptly at 8am. Girls and adults will then be divided into two groups. While the adults in attendance will participate in the program, they must be willing to shuttle girls in their groups. One group will depart for Ousel Falls and will spend the morning ice climbing, while the second group will depart for Specimen Creek (inside Yellowstone NP) and will spend the morning snowshoeing up the creek. Ideally, adult volunteers will have a Park Pass to gain entrance to the park.
MAG will supply all the necessary gear for these activities.
At noon, the groups will return and have lunch at their respective trailheads. Lunch is provided by GSMW, so make sure to let us know of any dietary restrictions in the Special Needs section! After lunch, groups will switch activities. At 3:30, all groups will pack up and depart for Bozeman, where all girls will be reunited with their families or troop leaders.
This will be a day of learning--learning new skills, learning tolerance in cold weather, and learning teamwork. Ice climbing is a unique and difficult sport; it is imperative that girls maintain a positive, upbeat attitude.
Girls should come prepared with sufficient water, warm clothing suitable for activity, HAT and GLOVES, sunscreen, and snacks.
There are spots for adults to participate in this program with their girls at the same price point. If adults only wish to volunteer as shuttle drivers from Bozeman to Yellowstone and back, the price is only $6.50/adult, as that is the cost of the lunch we are providing. All adults attending must be a registered Girl Scout to participate and/or volunteer.
Registration for this event is $125 per girl (or participating adult) and closes on February 8th. After February 8th, your program registration is non-refundable.
