In a survival situation, your sense of direction can steer you away from danger and toward safety. Give your sense of direction a boost with this active, hands-on navigation program sponsored by Riverton, Wyoming's own, Brunton compasses.
Through this program, Girl Scouts will find their trajectory as they learn to orient a map, take bearings, and plot a course. Participants will enjoy challenging games, magnetic experiments, and trendy compass crafts.
After learning a range of new compass skills, Girl Scouts will orienteer their way through a course of riddles, skills tests, and pit stops. Along their route, teams will demonstrate their navigational savvy and survivalist whit to earn new clues on their way to the final treasure. Truly keen navigators will find themselves with a new understanding of how to see themselves in the world!
Founded in 1894, Brunton is a woman-owned, geologist-led, family business. By making the world's most reliable compasses, Brunton envisions a world where everyone can find their direction. Brunton has supplied the compasses and guidance for this program!
To attend, adults must be registered GSMW volunteers. Adult participants will serve as guide for all child participants. We encourage adults to attend and learn about navigation, too!
Snack will be provided. Girls will receive a fun patch at the end of the program. No tag-alongs.
Registration for this event is $10 per girl and closes on September 19th. After September 19th, your program registration is non-refundable.
