As a Kindergarten Daisy Girl Scout, Betsy didn’t realize the impact Girl Scouts would have on her future. She enjoyed troop meetings, attending programs, and going to Girl Scout camp. In 2012, as Betsy was in high school, she joined a FIRST Tech Challenge Girl Scout robotics team. She had always been interested in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) and was thrilled to be a part of the team. She learned how to design, build, and program competitive robots and how to strategize and problem solve using real engineering principles. Her team was the first Girl Scout robotics team to earn a spot at the world championship competition. Through this experience, Betsy learned valuable technical skills along with teamwork and leadership skills that helped pave her career path.
