Join STEM the Gap AcademyTM for LIVE, online coding workshops that will help Girl Scouts understand computer language in a fun, girl-led way. There are badge workshops available for each Girl Scout level as well as multiple date options, so make sure to register for a workshop that is specific to your grade. All workshops are led by live teachers who are female STEM experts!

Coding Basics for Daisies – Virtual (Grades K-1)
Earn your Daisy Coding Badge Level 1 with STEM the Gap Academy! In this tech-driven world, understanding computers is essential to success. Our Coding Basics course is a fun, interactive journey that empowers our girls to harness the power of coding for good. They’ll discover how people communicate with computers, create their own instructions, and learn about pioneering women in computer science! All STEM the Gap Academy virtual programs are hosted by the Academy and NOT by GSMW. Please note that STEM the Gap runs their own registration and programming externally from GSMW.

Coding Badges for Seniors – Virtual (Grades 9-10)
Join Stem the Gap Academy for a 2.5-hour workshop where Girl Scouts can earn Coding Basics, Digital Game Design, and App Development Badges. Participants will learn about JavaScript syntax, functions, and arguments, as well as x-y coordinates, Boolean logic, IF statements, and control flow. The workshop covers game design, app development, and data collection and analysis. Participants will gain valuable skills in coding, game design, and app development, with a focus on problem-solving and social impact. Through these activities, participants gain a comprehensive understanding of coding, game design, and app development while learning how to apply these skills to create positive change in their communities. All STEM the Gap Academy virtual programs are hosted by the Academy and NOT by GSMW. Please note that STEM the Gap runs their own registration and programming externally from GSMW. Badges are not included.

Join Stem the Gap Academy for an exciting and engaging 2.5-hour workshop where Girl Scouts can earn Coding Basics, Digital Game Design, and App Development Badges. Through interactive activities, participants delve into the world of computer programming, game design, and app development. The coding badge introduces functions and loops through song lyrics, while the game design badge focuses on creating socially impactful video games. Meanwhile, the app development badge teaches participants how to organize data and develop useful applications. By completing the workshop, participants gain valuable skills in coding, game design, and app development, with a focus on problem-solving and social impact.
