Get ready for a wild adventure at Makoshika State Park, where dinosaurs, flowers, fossils, and hiking trails come together for an unforgettable Girl Scout experience! Girls will spend time discovering the fascinating history and natural wonders of Montana's largest state park while learning, creating, and exploring alongside other Girl Scouts.
Our adventure begins with a special Visitor Center tour at Makoshika State Park. Girls will explore the park's fascinating fossil and dinosaur displays while learning about the prehistoric creatures that once roamed the area. Makoshika State Park is known for its unique badlands landscape, fossil discoveries, and rich paleontological history, making it the perfect place for girls to become junior fossil explorers!
Next, girls will take part in Makoshika State Park's Flower Power program. They'll discover more about the plants and flowers found throughout the park and learn how these natural treasures are connected to the environment around them. This hands-on activity gives girls a chance to slow down, look closely at nature, and appreciate the beauty growing right alongside the prehistoric landscape.
No Makoshika adventure would be complete without getting outside! Participants will head out on a guided hike to explore the park's incredible landscape. Along the way, they'll have opportunities to observe nature, ask questions, and experience the unique badlands that make Makoshika such a special place.
This program is presented in partnership with Makoshika State Park, whose knowledgeable staff and natural resources make this experience possible. Makoshika specializes in outdoor education, Montana's natural and geological history, fossils and paleontology, wildlife, plants, and the unique badlands landscape.
Girls will receive a fun patch and a snack as part of their participation in the program.
This event is open to all Girl Scouts - grades K-12. Adults are welcome and encouraged to participate! Tagalongs are welcome to join us.
Come ready to roar, bloom, and explore as we discover the prehistoric past, celebrate the beauty of nature, and hit the trails at one of Montana's most unique state parks!
Registration for this event is $5 per girl and closes on October 5th.
After October 5th, your program registration is non-refundable.
